Kungani ukusetshenziswa kwezithombe ezincwadini zokufunda kubalulekile?

Kujwayelekile ukuthi izincwadi zokufunda zabantwana zigxile ezithombeni, ikakhulu imidwebo emihle.

Akujwayelekile ukuthola izincwadi zokufunda zabantwana ezingenazithombe. Abanye bacabanga ukuthi abantwana basuke bengakakwazi ukufunda amagama, ngenxa yalokho badinga izithombe ukuqondisisa lokho abakufundayo. Lokho akuwona amanga, kodwa izithombe ezincwadini zibaluleke ngaphezu kwalokho futhi zinenzuzo.

Izithombe zigqugquzela uthando ukufunda

Uyayikhumbula incwadi owawuyithanda useyingane? Lena owawuyifunda uphindelela, uyibuke ungaqedi? Uma ucabanga ngaleyo ncwadi, yini efika ngokushesha emqondweni wakho? Kwabanye kungaba izigameko zendaba noma umlingiswa obethandeka. Iningi lethu, kufika izithombe ezinhle emqondweni; izithombe ezazisibeka ezindaweni esingakaze siphuphe ngazo ngaphambilini.

Izithombe zakha intokozo ziphinde zibe yingxenye yokufunda ebantwaneni. Ngenxa yokuthi abantwana abakwazi ukugxila entweni eyodwa isikhathi eside, izithombe ziyakwazi ukwenza umsebenzi wokuthi abantwana bagxile kulokho abakufundayo ngesikhathi befunda ukufunda. Izithombe zigquqguzela abantwana ukuthi babe yingxenye yombhalo, bakhuthazwe ngabalingiswa abafana nabo, babe ngabaseshi abathola izinto ezifihliwe ezithombeni ezisekhasini lencwadi (Fang,1996). Izithombe zigqugquzela abantwana kukuthi basombulule imfihlakalo ngokufuna umkhondo ofihliwe ezithombeni, baphinde bagqugquzeleke ukubona ukuthi umlingiswa uzokwenzani ekhasini elilandelayo lencwadi. Isasa lokubandakanya nezithombe ezinhle nezijabulisayo kungenza umntwana athande ukufunda.

Izithombe zingaseka okubhaliwe nangendlela indaba exoxwa ngayo

Ezindatshaneni zabantwana ezinezithombe noma imidwebo, indaba ixoxwa kabili, ngamagama abhaliwe kanye nangemidwebo noma izithombe (Agosto, 19990.) Lokhu kusho ukuthi abantwana bayakwazi ukuqonda indaba abayifundayo ngokufunda amagama kanye nokubuka imidwebo noma izithombe. Lokhu kusiza abantwana ukuqonda indaba okudlula leyo enamagama kuphela, engenayo imidwebo noma izithombe. Izithombe zenza indaba kube ngathi yenzeka ngempela. Izithombe ziphinde sizichazele lokhu okwenzeka ekhasini ngalinye lencwadi. Abantwana bayakwazi ukuzakhela ezabo izithombe emqondweni ngezigameko zendaba bese ekugcineni bezakhela ezabo izindaba.

Izithombe zigqugquzela ukuthuthukisa amakhono okubhala nokufunda ebantwaneni

Izithombe nemidwebo ehambisana nombhalo ezincwadini zokufunda kunikeza amathuluzi asiza abantwana ukwakha amakhono okufunda nokubhala emazingeni aphansi. Imidwebo ingaba yinto yokuqala engathuthukisa amasu okufunda ngokuqondisisa, afana nokuqagela, ukubuza imibuzo nokwenza esakho isiphetho ngalokho okubonayo nokufundayo. Abantwana bangahlanganisa amagama abawafundile nokwenziwa ngumlingiswa okukhonjiswe yimidwebo ukuqagela okuzokwenzeka endabeni emakhasini alandelayo.

Izithombe nemidwebo kungadwetshwa ngendlela evumela umntwana ukuthi akwazi ukubona isakhiwo sendaba, isizinda nabalingiswa (Agosto,1999). Imidwebo iveza ulwazi mayelana nokuthi indaba yenzeka kuphi, okuthandwa nokungathandwa ngabalingiswa abasendabeni, neminye imininingwane engabhalilwe (kubalwa okunye okuhlekisayo) okungelula ukuthi kuchazwe ngamagama.

Izithombe zilekelela ukuthuthukiswa kolwazimagama

Izithombe zenza okukhulu okudlula ukuchaza okobhaliwe, zichaza ngaphezu kwamagama futhi zilekelele ukuthuthuka kolwazimagama lomntwana. U-Shulevitz (1985) uveze ukuthi “ngaphandle kwezithombe, kungenzeka singaqondi incazelo yamagama.” Izithombe zingasiza abantwana ukuthi baqonde amagama angajwayelekile endabeni ngokubalekelela ukuthi bakwazi ukuxhumanisa izithombe ezisencwadini namagama asekhasini. Uma befunda, noma befundelwa indaba, abantwana  bangasebenzisa izithombe ukufunda amagama ezinto, ngokufundiswa ngumzali noma nguthisha ngokubuza umntwana umbuzo othi, “Ungakhomba isidleke kuleli khasi?”

Ngenxa yokuthi iningi lezincwadi ezinika ulwazi lwamaqiniso lethula izihloko ezingajwayelekile ukusiza abantwana ukufunda ngomhlaba abahlala kuwo, isikhathi esiningi lezi zincwadi zethula amagama amasha. Lawa magama ahambisana nezithombe ezisencwadini ukusiza abantwana bathole incazelo yawo. Uma abantwana besebenzisa izithombe ukuthola incazelo yamagama amasha angajwayelekile, ulwazimagama lwabo luyakhula luthuthuke.

Izithombe zingakhulisa uthando kwezobuciko

Incwadi yokufunda enezithombe ingaba ngezinye yezindlela umntwana angethulwa ngayo kulwazi lobuciko obubonakalayo. Ngokuka-Jacobs no-Tunell (1996), izincwadi ezinezithombe ziyithuluzi elibalulekile lokuvula amehlo abantwana mayelana nobuhle namandla obuciko. Njengoba abantwana befunda izincwadi ezahlukahlukene ezinemidwebo nezithombe, bathola ithuba lokwazi izinhlobo ezahlukahlukene zobuciko, futhi uma benikezwe ithuba, bengaphawula ngezithombe nemidwebo besho abakuthandayo nabangakuthandi. Lokhu kubanika ithuba lokhulisa ikhono lokucabanga besebancane.
