A first of its kind – inaugural Oxford Day!

On Thursday, 4 July, we celebrated ‘Oxford Day,’ a collaborative event where staff from various regions and divisions came together to commemorate a successful fiscal. Led by our Managing Director, Karen Simpson, staff embarked on an inspiring journey. She highlighted market wins and goals for the future, showcasing the profound impact of the work that everyone does in a changing world. It was a powerful reminder of the value and collective strength we possess as a team. Karen invoked the elephant analogy, highlighting collaboration as the key to bridging the ‘magic gap.’ In addition, she emphasised that fostering motivation and trust within teams would lead to a greater awareness of the necessity for positive transformation.

Each line of business also shared its vision for the future, creatively using videos to engage staff. The regional team, dressed as lionesses, outlined their strategy and mission to provide outstanding educational resources in their markets and expand market share through new product launches, seizing new opportunities and boosting sales.

Teams also came together to sing “We Are the Champions,” celebrating the hard work and dedication of each individual—contributing to OUP’s overall success.

To entrench the message of collaboration, the day concluded with a potjiekos competition. The head chefs faced the heat, putting their culinary skills to the test, competing for the coveted title of “potjie masters.”

The enthusiastic participation from all involved made Oxford Day a resounding success. With a personalised mug that reminds all involved about OUP’s mission – that learning changes lives and we are here to drive that change, there is no doubt that OUPSA will continue to build on this momentum, working together towards shared goals and making a positive impact in the world of education!
